IELTS is a test of English language proficiency. Candidates may choose either the Academic Module or the General Training Module:
- The Academic Module is intended for those who wish to enroll in universities and other institutions of higher education.
- The General Training Module is intended for those planning to undertake non-academic training or to gain work experience , or for immigration purposes.
IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand and South African academic institutions, by an increasing number of academic institutions in the USA , and by various professional organizations. It is also a requirement for migration to Australia and Canada .
Structure of IELTS:
The test consists of four Modules - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
The Listening and Speaking Modules is same for all candidates, but the Reading and Writing Modules, is different for Academic and General.
Overall score: 0-9 band scale
Each Module is also scored on a scale of 0- 9 band.
How to Register
Registration for the IELTS are done centrally by two authorities:

- IDP Education Australia Limited
You can register online by going their respective sites, (payment through credit card) or by filling in the application forms of the respective IELTS Registration Centers.
Testing Fee:
The current fee is Rs 7200/-
Score Validity IELTS score is valid for a period of 2 years from date of test.
